Tent Rocks - NM
Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is west of Santa Fe. I did not photograph Santa Fe because it is more about many wonderful things than nature. While we were in Santa Fe we enjoyed the museums, galleries, food, parks, shops, farmer's market, plaza, and people more than any collection of photos could show. And as much as we loved all that, we also explored some of the areas around Santa Fe such as the Tent Rocks. We took long drives as well and I photographed many flowers that will show up in another collection I have planned. But Tent Rocks is special in it's own way. We had a couple of nice hikes, a picnic lunch, and the time with nature that regenerates our spirit. Unfortunately, our schedule required it to be mid-day, the most challenging time for photography.

This Woodhouse Scrub-Jay posed for a photo.
Before 2016 all Scrub Jays were grouped into Western Scrub Jays. In 2016 they were split into Woodhouse's Scrub Jays and California Scrub Jays. New Mexico is one of the states dominated by the Woodhouse variety.
