Lake Ouachita State Park - AR
The lake water was warm and we swam almost every evening. There was enough sand on the beach to squish between our toes and the water was cool compared to the hot days. Each swim was followed by splashing in the little creek that feeds the lake from an ice cold spring just up the hill. The creek was just deep enough to wash the sand from our feet but filled with little rocks that made me say "ouch" with each step. The lake was not photogenic and wildlife was scarce. Joy came as it often does from seeing a Raccoon waddle through camp after dark, crows that made pigs of themselves eating popcorn, wildflowers I had come to know from other times and places, and a couple of familiar little animals. However, there were a few new things to see by my wandering around. It is the new things that get me most excited and continue the sense of adventure.

Amazing camoflage
If these toads didn't hop around every once in a while I would never see them.
